About me:
I am a self-taught artist and photographer born and raised in the colorful and multi-cultural city of Miami Beach. As a painter and mixed media artist, I have always been drawn to the drama and purity of abstract imagery. Many of my works are an expression of this - a study in abstraction with a focus on the dynamic relationship between color and form. I also have a passion for surrealism and pop surrealism, and for enchanted and sometimes dark fairytale-like figurative works that are rich with symbolism and literary references.
Although I haven't actively pursued the traditional route of showing my work in galleries, past art exhibitions include a February 2004 group show at Marziart Internationale Gallery in Hamburg and a number of private exhibitions in South Florida with my husband, British artist Jake Austin.
As a fine art photographer, I have amassed a large collection of landscape shots though I love working with B&W infrared photography, HDR tonemapping applications and various experimental techniques to create more interesting surreal images and dreamscapes. Although I'm fairly new to photography, some of my photographs have been featured on MTV, HGTV and the book, "Weird Colorado".
My goal as an artist and photographer is to share and celebrate the divine beauty and magic in this world, and to explore and examine the duality of dark and light.
